Allanah & Josh

We are Josh & Allanah. Together we built Crystal Waters to share Queenstown’s amazing views with people from all over the world. We feel incredibly blessed to live in such a unique corner of the world and would like to welcome you and yours to our piece of paradise.

We are always contactable to offer any travel recommendations or if any questions concerning the property arise during your stay.

Our Favorites

We are Queenstown locals- Josh a true Kiwi and Allanah an import from America- together we call Queenstown home. Here are some of our local favourites!

A Must Do

Josh: Shotover Jet or the Kawarau Bungy- Fun Fact: the jet boat was invented in New Zealand and Queenstown is NZ’s home to bungy jumping- you can’t leave town without trying at least one or the other!

Allanah: You must take the Earnslaw across the lake and have dinner at Walter Peak. It’s an amazing experience and the food never disappoints!

Favourite Meal

Josh: Trust the Chef at the Millhouse.

Allanah: The Skewered Lamb at Flame.

Allanah’s Favourite Running Trail

The Moonlight trail. It starts in Arthurs Point and goes to Moke Lake. It’s a great trail run with mountain views! It’s 27 km round trip or you can run one way and have someone pick you up at the other end. Another option is to drive to Moke Lake and run around the lake. The loop is just over 6 km.

Josh’s Favourite Night Out

Check out Cowboys for their infamous mechanical bull- but no refunds if you break your arm!

Allanah’s Favourite Local Wine

I love a Pinot Noir from Peregrine. As far as my favorite winery to hang out on a summer’s day, I would say Mount Rosa. It’s a beautiful rural setting surrounded by mountain landscapes. They have a roaring fire to keep you toasty in the winter months and a sunny courtyard to enjoy the warmth in the summer. Truly spectacular!

Hidden Gem

Allanah: The Lokal, just up the hill from Crystal Waters has the most delicious burgers with slow roasted beef. Delightful!

Josh: The Paradise Valley in Glenorchy. An incredible drive with the most incredible mountain and bush views in the world!

Josh’s Favourite Ski Field

Remarkables. They might look terrifying towering over the lake, but when you get there you will find terrain for every level.

Favourite Rainy Day Activity

Allanah: Sitting by the fire at Crystal Waters with a cup of coffee and a good book.

Josh: Putting on a rain coat and going for a hike around Moke Lake, followed by a hot soak in the spa pools at Crystal Waters.
